Spouse / Partner
The death of a partner, especially in tragic circumstances, turns the survivor's life upside down.
Without the support of people who understand what you're going through - and who have perhaps been through it themselves - you can often find yourself surrounded by people who mean well but are incapable of knowing how to react or assist.
To combat this situation, South Australia Police Legacy offers Legatees and Wards companionship and social opportunities amongst strong, sympathetic and experienced people. Not to mention a whole range of practical assistance you will undoubtedly need.
Financial Assistance.
A Legatee can apply to S.A. Police Legacy for financial help for a variety of needs.
This includes special needs that may occur or some unexpected large expense.
Special Occasions.
S.A. Police Legacy likes to help Legatees celebrate special occasions.
So we send Legatees a Christmas card each year and offer a Christmas luncheon.
And Legatees over 90 years of age receive a gift basket on their birthday.
They're small but significant signs to our Legatees that we support them and we're always there for them.
Other Services.
A variety of other services are also made available to all Legatees on a needs basis:
- Legal assistance for such services as the preparation of wills, power of attorney and other legal documents as required.
- Smoke alarms.
- Home security devices.
- Cordless telephones.
- Emergency telephone assistance.
- Walking frames and other aged care equipment.
- Driving lessons and defensive driving courses.
- Discounts are also available on the purchase of motorised gophers.
- Other needs as considered appropriate by the Board.
