How We Help
When a serving or retired member of SAPOL dies, it can be a very difficult time for everyone concerned.
The badge creates a tightly woven camaraderie and when a member dies, it can have serious repercussions for the police communities morale.
But what happens within that person's family is even more intense and longer lasting.
For a start, it can mean the loss of the major breadwinner, threatening not only the family's livelihood but its home and the stability of its ongoing lifestyle.
In these difficult times, fortunately support groups such as the Police Association, Police Welfare and SA Police Legacy are available to help.
With SA Police Legacy, our Manager contacts each new Legatee and outlines the full range of services available to them.
Then the Liaison Officer arranges a home visit to explain all the benefits and make any subsequent follow-ups as necessary.
