Personal Development Grant

Meghan successfully applied for a Personal Development Grant as part of Meghan’s school studies as she was required to emerse herself in another culture. Meghan wanted to do this as an Exchange Student in Paris and asked SA Police Legacy for help to make this happen.

Here is what Meghan gained from her trip.

My name is Meghan K and during the 2016/2017 Christmas School holidays I lived with my exchange family in Paris. From the roof top terrace you could see the Eiffel Tower. It was a great location and just happened to be right next door to what ended up being my favourite chocolate shop (Boissier). Some of the highlights of my time in Paris:

Climbing to the 1st level of the Eiffel Tower, walking up & down the Champs Elysee, Visiting the Pantheon where Madame Curie & Victor Hugo are buried and seeing the Shakespeare & Co bookstore (near Notre Dame).

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone at Police Legacy for funding my trip to Paris. I had a fabulous time away and it improved my French. – Meghan K

Personal Development Grant

SA Police Legacy was asked to support Matilda as she wanted to undertake a trip to Africa in January/February in 2016 to broaden her life experience.

Matilda volunteered with ‘Help2Kids’ in Malawi for 3 weeks where she assisted with pre-school in the mornings and primary school in the afternoons. She also assisted in a health clinic on several mornings. Matilda came back from her trip and told us:

“The volunteering I completed gave me the opportunity to witness a completely different culture and experience the poverty of one of the poorest countries in the world. This trip was truly an eye opening experience.”

SA Police Legacy was thrilled to have helped Matilda achieve this personal goal.
